The 2005 The Golden Penguin Greater China Open Source Software Competition, organized by Sun Wah Hi-Tech Education Fund, Co-Create Software League, Taipei Computer Association and co-organized by CPTTM (Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center), has completed successfully on 14 October in Hong Kong. Under the guidance of CPTTM, a project from Macau, the "Web-based SVG GIS system" from the University of Macau, has won an "OSS Innovative Development Award". The Golden Penguin Greater China OSS Competition will take place from Oct 13 to 14. This competition is organized by Sun Wah Hi-Tech Education Fund, Co-Create Software League, Taipei Computer Association. The advisor of this event is the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. The organizer is Sun Wah Linux. Supporting organizations include HK Productivty Center, HK Computer Society, Internet Professional Association, Open Standard Support Organization, HK Linux Industry Association, HK LInux User Group, Debian HK, Open Source Application Knowledge Association. The competition is now open for OSS developers in Mainland China, Chinese Taipei, HK and Macau to join. The award categories are: OSS Product Application Award, OSS Innovative Development Award and OSS Contribution Award, which respectively encourage business applications of OSS, innovative development based on OSS and distinguished people promoting OSS.
