Recently, Internet Banking becomes more and more popular, users can log on to their online accounts with their usernames and passwords, to perform different kinds of transaction - including checking the balance etc. But, if you disclose your username and password accidentally. e.g. You may have written the username and password onto a notebook but later on that notebook is lost. Then, others may have the chance to embezzle your account. Is there any way to enhance the security of the login process? Yes, one way is to add one more user-authentication mechanism to the login process. e.g. HSBC recently starts to distribute “Security Tokens”, which is a small portable device, to their online banking customers to enhance the login security. During logon, besides the username and password, the users need to enter an extra “One Time Password” (generated by the Security Token) correctly so that they can successfully log on to their online accounts. In this way, the security of the login process can be greatly enhanced. This technology is also applicable to different kinds of remote access login for companies, such as remote email checking and remote monitoring.
