| Objective |
The students will be able to design, build and maintain secure networks using PIX firewalls and VPNs. This course prepares students to take the 642-552 SND (Securing Cisco Network Devices) and 642-522 SNPA (Securing Networks with PIX and ASA) exams in preparation for the Cisco Firewall Specialist. These exams also count toward security—professional-level CCSP. |
| Content |
- Select appropriate security hardware, software, policies, and configurations based on an organization's assessment of its security vulnerabilities in order to provide protection against known security threats.
- Perform advanced installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and recovery on Cisco IOS and PIX firewalls.
- Configure intrusion detection feature on the Cisco IOS router and PIX firewalls.
- Install and configure CSACS for AAA service on Cisco IOS and PIX firewalls.
- Configure site-to-site VPNs between Cisco devices and remote access VPNs between Cisco device and clients to ensure privacy and confidentiality.

| Assessment |
- Online module exam for each module.
- Two final written exams in the end of the course.
- Two practical exams in the end of the course.
The average result of the module exams, final written exams and practcial exams is 60 or over. |

Having the CCNA certificate or having attended the CCNA course in a Cisco Networking Academy such as CM83 at CPTTM or equivalent. Please do the assessment to test. |

| Remark |
The attendance counts on Lecture. On the other hand, the requirement on the attendance of Lab is half of that of the requirement of Lecture. e.g. If the requirement on the attendance of Lecture is 80%, then, the requirement on the attendance of Lab is 40%.
This course provides Cisco 18 and 28 series routers, 29 series switches and PIX 515E for students for doing lab.
